What good is balancing an ER collet chuck to 25,000 RPM's when a standard collet runs out 0.0004"? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of High Speed Tooling?
PIONEER Premium SX System standard TIR is 0.0002"
with optional 0.0001" on demand.
with optional 0.0001" on demand.
Higher Performance due to a Better Design
Design difference #1 - Shown: SX06 vs ER11
SX06 has a 8 degree included taperER11 has a 16 degree included taper
Results: 1/2 the taper = 40% higher locking torque
Design difference #2
SX taper length is 25% longer than ER
Results: More engagement for greater support and rigidity.
Design difference #3
SX locks on a square surface, ER locks on a taper
Results: If the nut is not on the same center-line as the chuck, the nut will move the nose of the collet off center causing additional TIR.
Overall Results: 20-50% better tool life than ER.
Need additional Clearance? Try MX!
MX06 is a 1/4 capacity system with a nose diameter of 1/2" or less. MX standard TIR is 0.0001"!
PIONEER's updated BT30 SX and MX products are pre-balanced to G2.5 @ 25,000 RPM's with certifications in the box!

Milling with ER Collet Chucks SX "A" Type Collets provides Superior Milling Performance over ER Milling with a collet chuck is all about Radial Support and Runout. SX Collets set deeper in the pocket, provide 1/2 the TIR of ER, resulting in superior performance. The picture below shows ER and SX collet chucks and how much far collet is setting out of the body in a locked position on a 1/2 End Mill. Shown: 1/2 End Mill in ER32 vs SX16-A Why SX?
SX collets come in 2 styles, A Type and B Type:
Guaranteed Performance SX will out perform any standard ER collet chuck or your money back! For more information please:
Why SX instead of ER? This question is common with end users and distributors. It is simply performance. This picture shows a CAT40 SX10 Collet Chuck with a 6.5mm collet holding a 1/4 (.250) gage pin. TIR at 10 times Diameter, 2.5" was 0.0003" (8 microns). Standard grade collet from inventory collapsing down 6.50 to 6.35 providing TIR ER cannot get close to! TIR matters at the end of your tool not the front of the collet, SX provides the TIR you need for greater tool life, more consistent production and lower your tooling cost. Using standard specifications... The numbers shown above are projected TIR in a "worst case" scenario. If you purchased an ER collet and it was checking 0.0004" @ 2 times diameter, projected TIR at 10 times diameter would be 0.0020". In the same scenario, SX collet checking 0.0002" @ 4 times diameter, projected TIR at 10 times diameter would be 0.0005" and average under 0.0004". Save the Carbide with SX! | Rotary Table Clearance
